Our NHS Trust and Health Board Intelligence Database, which you might know as Before You Rank, is now part of Ward on the Street for the sake of convenience. So when you're choosing where to work, you can see a trust's systems, like its EPR and whether notes are still on paper, right beside the reviews of its hospitals.

    You will now be able to get 2 weeks of leave after a miscarriage as it becomes a legal right from April 2027

    From April 2027, anyone who loses a pregnancy before 24 weeks will have a legal right to up to 2 weeks off work, and so will their partner. It covers miscarriage, termination and a failed IVF embryo transfer. The leave is unpaid. It starts from the first day of a job, and nobody has to prove the loss to take it.

    Ward on the Street is an anonymous review website for resident doctors to leave reviews about the hospital department they have worked in rating things from workload and the rota to food out of hours and the doctors' mess. It covers hospitals and training sites across the UK, and it's free.

    UK Specialty training prioritisation for 2027 is confirmed: the same immigration statuses stay, and there's no "significant NHS experience" route

    New regulations confirm who gets priority for specialty training from 2027. The same citizenship and immigration statuses used in 2026 carry over, and they now count at shortlisting as well as at offers. There's no separate route for doctors based on how long they've worked in the NHS.

    There will be no more Foundation Year 2 (F2) stand-alone recruitment in 2027 nationally by the UKFPO

    From 2027, the UKFPO will no longer recruit to F2 stand-alone programmes across the UK. There won't be a national vacancy on Oriel. Each of the 4 nations will decide what happens to its own F2 stand-alone posts. So there may still be F2 stand-alone programmes in some areas in 2027, but there won't be one UK-wide application for them.

    Resident Doctor exam fees in England are finally getting reimbursed. More details have just been announced!

    The FULL list of Royal College and faculty exams you can be reimbursed for has been published. If you're a resident doctor or a locally employed doctor (LED) in England, you can claim back the first 2 sittings of any exam you need for your Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), for exams sat after 1 April 2026. The system used to claim will open in the next few weeks.

    Good news for locally employed doctors (LEDs): permanent contracts are now the default, and your trust has to show it this month

    New guidance agreed between the BMA, NHS Employers, NHS England and the Department of Health sets out how the pay deal's promise of permanent contracts for locally employed doctors (LEDs) will work. From now, a permanent contract is the default for every LED, new or existing. Fixed-term is the exception, has to be justified and recorded, and from February 2027 trusts will be benchmarked and audited on it.
